Samsung Galaxy S4

The Samsung Galaxy S Series has been trending a lot lately. When I say lately, I mean in the last three years starting from the year it released its first model. The Series have been constantly innovating every time it releases a new model in distinguishable proportions. With Apple struggling in terms of innovation, many believe that this line of smartphones could eventually surpass iPhone. In fact, in Q3 2012, the Galaxy S3 model created a lot of buzz because it overtook iPhone 4S to become the world’s best selling smartphone.

The first model of this series by Samsung was released back in June 2010, the Samsung Galaxy S. After its release, the first model almost immediately created a wave that might have shook other Android smartphone manufacturers. Time Magazine recognized its impact and awarded it as top 2 device of its list of Top 10 Gadgets.

Almost a year later, April of 2011, the second model was released. Packed with dual core CPU and quad core GPU, Samsung Galaxy S2 was ready to shake things up with the iPhone. Hardware-wise, iPhone 4 was no match to the Samsung smartphone. Eventually, it became the first smartphone in the touch screen era to overtake iPhone in terms of sales (Q3 2011).

Now comes March 14, 2013. The latest flagship of the S Series, the S4 has just been unleashed. Loaded with tons of jaw-dropping innovations and features, the Samsung Galaxy S4 could be the ultimate smartphone everyone has been dreaming about.

Physically, S4 is slimmer and lighter compared to S3. The screen has been stretched also to 5” and is paired with full HD (1080×1920) resolution. Check out the pixel density, that is almost 40% of improvement. This means that the display screen of S4 will have even better contrast and sharpness than S3.

But that’s not all, the S4 is packed with a dual quad core processor, and a brand new GPU which is similar to one’s in the iPhone 5. It also has an improved battery charge and it is using the Gorilla Glass 3 which reports say is by far the most durable glass in the market.

Camera Features

The new Samsung S4 now has a 13MP rear camera, plus a lot of new features. Highest aperture of the camera can go up to F/2.2, so you could accurately focus your subject and at the same time have an artistic blurry background. The front camera is equipped with 2MP capability and it can also shoot photos or record videos in HD.

A cool new feature in the S4 is the “Dual Camera.” In this feature you can use the rear and front camera simultaneously. You can choose from a variety of frame effects which combines the two pictures naturally. Nobody’s going to be left out now, because whoever is taking the pictures, could easily be merged with the rest of the gang.

It also has the “Sound and Shot” feature which has the ability to capture the sound and voice together as the picture is taken, accordingly gives your pictures more life and better memories. In relation to this, there is a “Story Album” feature by which you can collect and arrange your photos according to the event, the timeline or the geo-tagging information. Allowing you more control in sorting numerous photos.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Camera has other cool and neat features as well. There is a new camera shooting mode which is the “Drama Shot.” With this feature the camera can go into continuous burst shooting mode which is very useful capturing fast moving objects. Another cool feature worth mentioning is the “Cinema Photo” feature. This feature allows you to take and create animated photos making it more fun and exciting. And, lastly there is an “Eraser” feature by which you can ‘erase’ unwanted objects in the background. You can now finally say goodbye to photobombs.

Other Exciting Features

Everyone is talking about the “Smart Gesture” feature which the smartphone can detect the position of your eyes and by that it can pause the video when you tend to look away from the screen or it can automatically scroll down when you’ve reached the bottom of the page reading.

With the Samsung S4, you can control or view web browsers, music players, or dialer interfaces by just waving in front of the screen. This is the “Air Gesture” feature which could be very useful when you’re browsing the web and eating Cheetos at the same time.
